I come from a family of military background. My Grandfather was an officer in the Hungarian army. He retired as a Major. My father, also an officer, fought in World War II in the Hungarian Army. In 1942-1945 he was State Secretary. When the Communists took over, he had to flee to Austria and so did my Grandfather on my mother’s side. When we settled down in Salzburg, where I was born in 1947, my father went to work for the Americans. He was analyzing the behind the Iron Curtain movements. When the Americans pulled out of Austria in 1955 he was asked to relocate to Germany. He did not get in writing that if they were to pull out of Germany that he and his family would be able to go to America. Due to his political background, he had to move to a neutral Country, which was Sweden. My mother passed away in Sweden. My father remarried, and they moved to California. My step-mother did not want to stay in Sweden due to the climate and thus we came to United States in 1961.
Theresa speaks many foreign languages besides English. She’s fluent in Hungarian, German, Swedish and has an understanding of Spanish, Danish, and Norwegian.
