About Me: A Story of Service and Expertise

Greetings!

I moved to Seattle from Southern California 2013.  After 5 years I escaped to Longview WA where I live today.

I grew up in the San Diego area in the 60’s. My elementary years were in Poway, a stone’s throw from the Miramar Naval Air Station. I was surrounded by a legacy of service. Both my parents are veterans; my mother proudly served in the Air Force, while my father served in the army, a veteran of the Korean War. Using the GI Bill to earn a Master’s in Psychology, he started working as a civil servant with the Navy specializing in training methods. Helping to improve the training being given to our troops, he was always asking “How do you know they know?”

I graduated from San Diego High in 1972 and went on to college as a biology major. During the summer break I took a “summer job” on a geodetic survey ship mapping the ocean floor looking for oil. That job continued for almost 2 years. In April 1975 we were off the Vietnam coast during the fall of Saigon in route to Alaska.

Returning to college invigorated by these experiences, I switched majors and pursued a degree in business management with a concentration in quantitative analysis. This led me to a successful career as a computer programmer. My first programming job was with a DOD contractor working primarily with the Navy at the China Lake Naval Weapons Station in CA and with Fort Sill OK at the artillery school.

In an interesting coincidence my projects centered on developing systems to validate and streamline the training tests being given to the troops. My dad spent almost 20 years validating the military training and my first project was to validate the tests that were given.

This marked the beginning of a 40-year career in the field of Information Technology.

I married my wife back in 1980. We don’t have kids other than fur babies, but we have LOTS of nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Two of our nephews are active career military, one is in the Air Force and the other in the Navy.

After needing a career change, in 2013, I got my health license in the state of WA. I am now licensed in WA, OR, & AZ. However, it wasn’t until 2018 that I found my true calling: specializing in Medicare as an Independent Medicare Broker. This is the most satisfying career I have had.

Why Work with Me?

Stress-Free Enrollments, Empowering Choices: As your Independent Medicare Broker, my mission is to simplify the complexities of Medicare rules and options.  As an independent broker, all the Medicare Advantage companies pay me the same commissions. Therefore, I have no financial incentive to steer you to anything except the best plan for you.

Education for Empowerment: My approach is rooted in education. I work closely with you to ensure you are well-informed about your choices and the reasons behind them. The more you know, the less stress you’ll have.

I look forward to working with you.

Steve was great to work with…I would highly recommend!

5/ 5

Steve was great to work with to help me understand and navigate the Medicare process. Steve was recommended by a friend and I can see why. I took a class first but became overwhelmed with all the details. He simplifies the information and makes recommendations according to MY individual needs. I really appreciated how he keeps up on the latest plans and options and answers any and all of my questions promptly! I would highly recommend! ~ DeAnna Kreger ~
