Meet attorney Sheryl J. Manning
I am the founding attorney of the estate planning law firm of Sheryl J. Manning, PL, located in Coral Gables, Florida. My practice focuses on effective estate planning.
I focus on the word effective, because I want my clients to have an estate plan that works. At the time of a death or disability, transitions need to occur without complication. If your planning does not result in a smooth transition, your documents are simply not useful enough.
Your estate planning should not end when you sign your documents. I work with my clients beyond the signing date to help with tasks such as funding your trust, confirming that beneficiary designations are properly prepared, and keeping your asset information organized. These are some of the cumbersome tasks that too often are unfinished, and that cause future complications.
I enjoy working with all types of people and families. Sometimes, a Will-based plan is sufficient. For many, a Trust is important. For those with a disability, a Special Needs Trust may be appropriate. If you own investment properties or a closely-held business, we will discuss appropriate business structures.
It is vital to have proper documents. But follow-through is also essential. If you understand your estate plan, and keep it updated and organized, it should work smoothly when it needs to be implemented. My goal is to help you achieve that.
I grew up in southern Idaho, and attended college at Brigham Young University. I earned my law degree at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Early in my legal career, I worked in Chicago, Illinois and Ann Arbor, Michigan; but I have lived and practiced law in the Miami area since 2013. I am a member of many legal organizations including the Florida Bar, the Dade County Bar Association, The Coral Gables Estate Planning Council, the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), and the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys (AFELA), and Wealth Counsel.
