One summer day when I was a child, I saw an elderly man in a dark suit and slippers shuffling down the middle of our residential street. He called out to me, pleading, ‘Do you know who I am? Do you know where I live?’ I did not, but the memory of that disturbing encounter never left me. Unable to help him then, I’ve made it my life’s work to assist others in planning for the considerable challenges that aging can bring on.
I’ve been an independent long-term care insurance agent since 1996 and maintain the professional CLTC designation (Certification for Long Term Care). That same year, I began providing ongoing educational seminars at the Community Health Resource Center at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. In my commitment to inclusivity and support for those facing unique circumstances, I draw inspiration from a close friend who is a disabled veteran—a paraplegic. Witnessing firsthand the challenges she faces, especially as she ages, has strengthened my resolve to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
Representing various companies and products, I strive to recommend the most appropriate solutions for each client’s unique situation. A graduate of UC Davis with a degree in Visual Anthropology, I enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds. I believe education is the key and encourage everyone to gain a clear understanding of the issues surrounding extended care in America, as well as the options available to mitigate its catastrophic impact.
I live with my family on Potrero Hill, in San Francisco’s sun belt, and can often be seen walking the hills with my dog, looking for squirrels.
