After attending the “Clare Humphrey (my mother) School of Parenting Your Parent,” I appreciated the need to assist families facing the challenges of aging ancestors. These are uncharted waters for most families and they are often fraught with anxiety and fear. My “lessons” taught me how a person’s mind and behavior is affected by dementia. Those lessons included coping mechanisms, patience, tolerance, and hope. I learned from her physician, lawyer, and professional caregivers. In the end, I was inspired to help others in similar situations.
