Diane Stoddart, a Planning Specialist Certified in Long Term Care (LTC), has been dedicated to helping families manage the financial risks associated with extended life since 1992. Her journey in this field began in 1996 when she relocated from Illinois to Florida to assist her grandparents through the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease. Witnessing the profound impact of inadequate planning firsthand, Diane became passionate about educating and advising her clients to prevent financial crises during health emergencies, as her family experienced.
Her grandfather, a World War II veteran, had limited VA benefits that fell short of covering a decade of her grandmother’s dementia care, which began at age 61. Diane observed her grandparents deplete their assets to qualify her grandmother for Medicaid, resulting in her placement in a Medicaid nursing home bed. This experience underscored the importance of having a financial plan that allows families to afford quality care, such as memory care assisted living, without relying solely on Medicaid.
Diane’s commitment to planning is also deeply personal. At age 35, she and her husband, Paul, purchased their long-term care policies. Five years later, Diane was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Fortunately, she has remained symptom-free, but her diagnosis rendered her uninsurable. Diane is profoundly grateful for having planned early, which now allows her peace of mind despite her condition.
In addition to her professional expertise, Diane’s family has a rich history of military service. Her uncles served in Vietnam, her father was in the National Guard, and a cousin served in the Navy in San Diego. Her father-in-law served in the Army in England during the 1960s, where he met his wife while working for Ford Motor Company. Their son, Paul, Diane’s husband, became a U.S. citizen at six months old after the family traveled to the U.S. by ship.
Diane works nationwide, assisting clients in all 50 states to develop customized plans tailored to their unique needs. By collaborating with multiple top-rated insurance carriers, she ensures her clients are protected from the financial, physical, and emotional challenges that long-term care can impose. Diane’s goal is to help families plan today so they can live comfortably at home later when they need assistance.
