My entire career has been marked by caring for people. This has always been my passion, to help people meet their needs. That has taken me through a twenty year career where I made relationships and helped to match the needs, expressed and unexpressed, of my clients to the right solutions and services.
I have always been a community minded person involved in multiple non-profit organizations. These include the Yelm Chamber of Commerce, YWCA of Olympia, YWCA of Pierce County, Fund for Women and Girls, Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, Greater Tacoma Community Foundation, Lions Club, Yelm Community Schools Advisory, Boys and Girls Club of Thurston County, and the Washington Center for Women in Business Advisory Board.
April Sage Owner and Advocate
Nine years ago my grandmother Elisabeth had a significant decline in her cognitive and physical faculties. My family went through an intense process of trying to find the appropriate facility for her. We did this with no knowledge or experience, and with little confidence that we were making the best decisions on her behalf. We felt like we had to make a decision overnight.
While we did the best that we could with the information that we had, this is not a process that I would wish on anyone. In times of uncertainty and major life change the difficulty of change is amplified. That’s why I work with you and your family to create a customized action plan that is personally tailored to meet the unique needs of your loved ones.
So you see, this is truly a labor of love for me and I am extremely client focused. It’s only natural that I converse and interact with the family members placing their loved one’s placement in my care. Where I go the extra mile is spending time with the family member being placed when appropriate. I talk WITH them and not AT them. I honor the humanity of the people I serve no matter what part of their journey they’re experiencing. I empathize with family members that are placing their loved one, as I know firsthand how difficult this process can be. This is so much more than an occupation – it is my life’s call.
My mission is to provide consultative, vetted solutions that take as many personal factors into consideration as possible. I seek to give support in the most crucial of times, at any age and for any need.
Recently receiving my Certificate in Gerontology from UW in June of ’22, has further equipped me to combine my passion with additional knowledge to provide the best service possible.
