Visit the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program website to find resources for transitioning service members, including links to mandatory forms and tools that can help service members plan for post-transition challenges. You’ll also find information on Transition GPS (Goals, Plans, Success), transition training from the Department of Defense designed to let service members choose the modules that best suit their needs. After the initial core curriculum, service members can choose between the education module, the technical training module or the entrepreneurship module.
The service branches deliver the Transition GPS curriculum at installations and, for service members unable to take the classroom training, through the GPS Virtual Curriculum. These service-specific transition programs can provide more information on Transition GPS and transition assistance for both you and your service member.

Services are provided in person on major Army installations and virtually at the Soldier for Life – Transition Assistance Program website. In addition to counseling services and sessions, the SFL-TAP may schedule special events to enrich its services, including hiring fairs and visits from local employers. The SFL-TAP Center may hold short classes for those who want to learn more about specific job search topics, such as resume writing or interviewing. Some installations allow spouses to accompany their service members to these classes.
