Lauren brings a deep understanding of illness and trauma to her practice as a healing clinician. Immediately following her graduation from college, she enrolled in a training program for massage and natural therapeutics, where she began the process of identifying the sources of her own chronic illness and pain. The skills she learned in her professional training became the foundation for the philosophy and practices she implements in her work. They helped her both to understand her body’s language, and to feel empowered to manage her own health and wellness. As an athlete, she understands the need for muscular relief from aches and pains. She has developed a signature combination of therapeutic deep-tissue techniques and subtler, energetic modalities that serve to calm the nervous system. She has observed that this nuanced approach facilitates more lasting change in the body. She continues to integrate a variety of modalities that reset the central nervous system, including Neuromuscular and Craniosacral Therapy and Core Synchronism. She has recently added Vibroacoustic Therapy using technology developed by inHarmony. Her treatments involve playing various sound frequencies through a mat on the massage table to help calm the nervous system (think of the feeling of a cat purring), while integrating various energetic modalities with Swedish and Deep-Tissue massage practices for an entirely unique therapeutic experience.
Lauren is the granddaughter of a career Colonel and orthopedic surgeon who fought in World War II and directed the MASH units in Korea. She enjoyed a close relationship with her grandfather, and remembers his emotional warmth vividly. Though her specialty area in healthcare is quite different from his, she wishes to give back through her work to those who have given so much for their country.
